Which Nutritional and Demographic Characteristics Effect Hopelessness in Young Adults: A Cross-Sectional Study of University Students from Turkey

Objectives: Aim of the study to investigate effects nutritional status and demographic characteristic on hopelessness university students. Study Design: A cross-sectional with random sampling students who age between 17-25 years, at XXXXXXXX University. questionnaire form investigating characteristics habits was applied Food frequency also Beck Hopelessness Scale used. Total scores range from 0–20 point it categorized according symptom severity as follows: 0–3: normal; 4–8: mild; 9–14: moderate; 15–20: severe hopelessness. Statistical analysis data evaluated SPSS 21.0 statistical package program. p <0.05 considered statistically significant. Results: The mean score student 4.63±3.75 most their (50.1%) normal. Sleeping 5-6 hours ≥10 hours, using smoke alcohol, alcohol least one time or more in a week associated higher skipping meal low (p<0.05). Unhealty foods such processed meat product, fried vegetable, potato, soup (ready), peanut butter, candies, hamburger, ketchup, margarine, mayonnaise, cips when consumed frequently (daily times week) Conclusion: Mean which we examined determined time, consuming usually unhealty were relationship hopelessnes scale.
